BRIDGMAN — The 24th annual Betty’s Buddies Golf Outing was held Aug. 7 at Pebblewood Country Club in Bridgman.

Nearly 120 golfers participated to help the local organization founded in memory of Betty Grosse keep helping those battling cancer and their families.

The first-place team in the best-ball tourney, with a score of 15 under Par (53) was Pat Mathewson, DJ Pepple, Charlie Trout and Mike Petlick.

“All the money goes back to the community, and “we can help a lot of people with your efforts,” Denny Grosse of Betty’s Buddies told the golfers prior to tee-off time. ‘“We believe Gary, Josh and Betty are shining down.”

The Betty’s Buddies Buddy of the Year Award was given to the late Gary Fox (presented to members of his family) “in recognition of years of dedication to helping people in our communities, and those fighting cancer, to his establishing and the support of the Josh Fox and Betty’s Buddies Golf Outing.”

A moment of silence for “people we have lost over the years” including Josh Fox, Betty Grosse, and Gary Fox was held. Cancer survivors participating in the tournament also were recognized.
