8 5 WIlliams Orchard

Visitors explore the acres of apples at Williams Orchard last fall.

LaPORTE Ind. — Williams Orchard, 9456 North 500 East, LaPorte, Ind. (just south of Three Oaks) will be opening for the 2021 fruit season on Aug. 5 by offering peaches and other market items in their orchard barn.

Williams peaches are grown on site and are available at the market during normal business hours. U-Pick apple season will begin the end of August.

Orchard owners Jon and Robyn Drummond are in the process of making major upgrades to the historic orchard grounds which have been nestled in the rolling hills of the Hesston corridor of LaPorte County since the 1860s.

They have planted more than 200 new fruit trees to ensure the future of the orchard and hope to enhance the traditional orchard experience for families who visit.

There is a new corn maze, a play area, picnic tables, bounce houses, a petting zoo, wagon rides and of course delicious fruit, donuts, cider and market items for sale.

Visitors will see a new pond and sunken garden as they enjoy walking the grounds and picking apples later in the season.

The orchard will be open from Aug. 5 through Oct. 31, Thursday through Sunday.

Hours (Central Time) are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday-Friday; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.
