NEW BUFFALO — The Harbor Country Chamber of Commerce hosted a festive Drive-By Guide Pick Up Party on Friday, June 19, at Artisan Farms in New Buffalo.
“Since we were not able to conduct our regular, annual Harbor Country Guide unveiling party (originally scheduled in March) … we opted for a safe way that people could drive by, pick them up and take them home or to their businesses by the box (40 copies in each) in a fun way,” said Chamber Member Services Director Kimberlee Wendt.
“Thanks to owner and member Milan Kluko at Artisan Farms (an indoor vertical farm at 18300 U.S. 12 that provides wholesale sustainable organic produce), the Chamber was able to house the pallets of guides in his New Buffalo warehouse,” she added.
At the end of the day Wendt and a group of volunteers had distributed three pallets of guide boxes.
Chuck Garasic of the Chamber Guide Committee said 40,000 copies were printed with 13,000 sent to the state for welcome centers.
Wendt said Roger’s Wrecker Service has been lined up to help deliver pallets of Guides to destinations like the Four Winds Casino and the South Bend Airport.
Wendt said a band of Chamber volunteers is distributing to individual businesses and information booths. All locations in Harbor Country and the region should receive copies by the July 4th holiday.
The 2020 Harbor Country Guide also remains available for virtual viewing on HarborCountry.org.
If a business does not receive a guide delivery, Wendt said they should contact the Chamber Office by phone (269) 469-5409 (the office is currently available by appointment only as it remains closed to the public until the state reaches Phase 5 of the re-opening process. The outside kiosk is fully stocked).
