GRAND RAPIDS — Among the acts performing at the Aug. 24-25 Breakaway Music Festival put on by Prime Social Group at Belknap Park in Grand Rapids were New Buffalo residents and DJs Blair Folino (BLR) and Ryan Kenny (Diesel).

The two-day festival was headlined by Grammy award nominees Odesza and national artists Khalid, NGHTMRE, Rich The Kidd, Flosstradamus, Flatbush Zombies and other talented artists. The festival featured two stages — the main stage and the silent disco.

On Aug. 24 Folino and Ryan Kenny, also known as BLR and Diesel respectively, were back DJing in the silent disco for the second year in a row at the Breakaway Music Festival.

In 2017 they made their Breakaway debut in the silent disco with  separate sets. In 2018, Blair and Ryan joined forces for a b2b or “back to back” set in which they played together.

Their set featured original tracks from Diesel as well as being loaded with Dubstep, Trap, and House music. The rain had just started coming down when their set started and the vibe was set as “Headbangers” showed up and the silent disco quickly ran out of headphones. Blair and Ryan  had special guest Matthew Lucas, also known as “Peekaboo,” show up on stage when they rinsed his track “Maniac.” Peekaboo is also from West Michigan and has been blowing up in the electronic music scene, collaborating with Bassnectar and signing to bass music label, “Waakan.”

According to a press release from the festival, “the set was complete chaos in the best way possible and was definitely a fan favorite.”
