SAWYER — The new Local Pour boutique-style tasting room at 12857 Red Arrow Highway in Sawyer provides a fun and friendly place where guests can explore a variety of Michigan-made wine, beer and spirits.
Owner Chalet Sturgeon said Michigan-made wines, ciders, craft beers and cocktails featured at Local Pour include Dablon, Domaine Berrien and Lazy Ballerina wines as well as Three Blondes beer.
“We represent wineries not only from Berrien County, but also up in Traverse City and Northern Michigan. We have distillers from Grand Rapids, Holland, northern Michigan. We have beers from this area, from South Haven, from Grand Rapids,” she said. “We want to be a boutique, we want you to come in and try something different that you wouldn’t normally try and buy.”
Chalet said Local Pour offers hummus, sausages, cheeses, dips, chips, salsas and other light snacks.
“We also have some really fun craft soda pops for the kids,” she said, adding that dogs also are welcome.
The Harbor Country Chamber of Commerce performed a ribbon cutting ceremony at Local Pour on Friday, June 11.
“Sawyer has been so embracing,” Chalet said after she and General Manager and Tasting Room Manager Jayme Neumann cut the ceremonial ribbon.”We have found the love here so much in the last month. People have been stopping in (asking) ‘When are you going to open?’”
An official Grand Opening took place Saturday, June 12, with live music provided on the outside seating area by the Back Up Girl Band.
Chalet said live music will be a regular offering beginning at 2 p.m. Saturdays.
Future showcase events including food and drink collaborations, and chances to meet vintners and brewers are being planned.
