THREE OAKS — The Rotary Club of Harbor Country distributed holiday food baskets to 46 families representing 227 people (96 adults and 133 children) on Saturday, Dec. 19.

Rotary Club member Lori Robinson said about 24 people made sure the many bags and one large basket found their way to families in the area.

The club began its holiday basket transition in 2012 when it collected $510 that provided food for six families.

Donations for the 2020 effort included: Hams from Drier’s; turkey, canned veggies, bread, pasta and sauce, from Jackie’s Cafe; ground beef from Kaminski Farms; cheese from Old Europe Cheese; apples from Hildebrand Farms; toothbrushes and toothpaste from Harbor Country Dental and Lighthouse Dental Group; tote bags from Horizon Bank and Reliable Disposal; gift cards from Barney’s, Martin’s and Costco.

The club also received grants from The Pokagon Fund and the Berrien Community Foundation.

The Rotary Club of Harbor Country also donates hats and mittens to the New Buffalo and River Valley school districts.

On Dec. 16 a total of 220 sets of hats and mittens were delivered (117 to River Valley and 103 to New Buffalo).
