THREE OAKS — The 46th Apple Cider Century Bike Tour will take place Sunday, Sept. 29, with thousands of cyclists riding on area roads.

Bryan Volstorf of the Three Oaks Spokes Club said registration will be open until midnight Saturday, Sept. 21.

“If we hit 5,000 before Saturday we’ll close it (sooner)” he added.

To register, go to Apple Cider Century or call 1-888-877-2068.

Routes are changed every year, mostly due to road construction, and Volstorf said there was a lot of that in 2019.

The five distances riders can choose from are 15, 25, 37, 50, 62, 75 and 100 miles.

Volstorf said ACC organizers had to find a new ice cream vendor for the Saturday afternoon social featuring live music by All Tooned Up in Dewey Cannon Park because Sherman’s is out of business. He said Oink’s in New Buffalo has switched to Ashby’s out of Ludington and now so has the ACC. (Volstorf said Spokes members taste-tested the new ice cream at Oink’s recently and everyone liked it)

The Sunday ride begins and ends at Three Oaks Elementary School.

The local fire department serves a breakfast in the morning and Classic Catering has a spaghetti dinner waiting at the school when the ride is over.

Volunteer groups and their tasks in helping make the ride possible include: Blossomland Radio Association (Communications); River Valley PTO (Registration Tables); Frieds of New Troy (Lake Township SAG Stop); Real Life Church and Weesaw Fire Department (Crossing Guards); River Valley Fastpitch Softball (Cider/Apples/Milk/Water); Calvary Tabernacle Church (SAG Stop Taxi Service).
