THREE OAKS — River Valley High School students on April 26 (the day before prom) witnessed a simulated two-car accident involving a car and a minivan each occupied by four students. Those in the car were said to have attended a party where alcohol was served following prom and the driver ended up speeding through a stop sign and crashing into the minivan. In the fictional aftermath one of the students was dead, another paralyzed and several more seriously injured. First-responders from Chikaming Township, Three Oaks and Medic 1 Ambulance dealt with the crash scene just as they would in a real accident, and students were told by School Resource Officer Paige Holtz and Chikaming Police Chief Todd Taylor that the choices they make can have a lasting impact on their lives as well as those of others.
