BRIDGMAN — Bridgman Public Schools Superintendent Shane M. Peters received a highly effective rating during his annual performance review with the Bridgman Board of Education and the Bridgman Board of Education unanimously agreed to provide a three-year extension on his current contract through June 30, 2023.

The Board of Education released the following on Dec. 15:

This year has been a challenging year and required quick changes to the way learning was administered. With the outbreak of COVID-19, Mr. Peters responded quickly to create and execute a COVID-19 Pandemic Plan. Working closely with his administration, plans, policies, strategies and procedures were developed to keep the staff safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also worked with building and district administrators to develop plans, policies, strategies and procedures to address students’ academic, social and emotional needs.

Bridgman Public Schools successfully opened the 2020/2021 school year with face-to-face instruction. Mr. Peters developed plans, policies, strategies and procedures with building and district administrators to ensure that staff and students could safely return to face-to-face instruction. He met with staff members and groups to address any issues or concerns they had about returning to face-to-face instruction. The plans were successfully executed in the fall of 2020 and face-to-face instruction has continued except for the recent state restriction on High Schools.

Mr. Peters has continued to provide ongoing communication with students, parents and the community. He has led many initiatives to help improve the morale of students and staff involving the community in many of these initiatives.

The Bridgman Board of Education would like to thank Superintendent Peters for his continued service, dedication and leadership of Bridgman Public Schools. The Board of Education would also like to thank all of the staff for their continued support and hard work. The Bridgman Board of Education is excited to have Mr. Peters as the Superintendent of Bridgman Public Schools. The Board of Education values our community for their continued support and we are excited about the future of Bridgman Public Schools.
