UNION PIER — A murder suspect was arrested by a Chikaming Township Police Officer "without incident" early on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Chikaming Police Department Sergeant Brandon Jones reported that the Berrien County Central Dispatch issued an area "be on the lookout" for a murder suspect out of Van Buren Township at approximately 4:09 a.m. Nov. 5 that provided the suspect vehicle’s make, model, registration and direction of travel along with suspect information.

"Officer David Wyman … located the suspect vehicle driving westbound on I-94 Hwy. near exit 12. Officer Wyman followed the suspect vehicle and called for back-up."

The report states that Wyman was able to stop the suspect vehicle on westbound I-94 near Exit 6 and "the suspect was taken into custody without incident."

The murder suspect was then transported and lodged in the Berrien County Jail.

The Chikaming Township Police Department was assisted by the Michigan State Police, Berrien County Sheriff’s Department, and New Buffalo City Police Department.
