HARBERT — One person is dead and another hospitalized with serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash in Warren Roods Road near Prairie Road.

Chikaming Township Police Sgt. Brandon Jones said the accident happened at about 7:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28.

Gerald Louis Hudson, 58, of Three Oaks, died at the scene, Jones said. He was a passenger in a car driven by Nancy Jule Hudson, 58, of Three Oaks.

The driver of the second vehicle, 61-year-old Thomas Joseph Pappa of Three Oaks, was not injured, Jones said. He declined to say how Gerald and Nancy Hudson are related.

The crash remains under investigation with help from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Crash Reconstruction Team. But Jones said preliminary evidence gathered from the scene shows Nancy Hudson was driving east on Warren Woods Road when her vehicle was hit by Pappa’s vehicle, which was traveling west on Warren Woods Road.

Nancy Hudson was taken to the hospital by Medic 1 and was in stable condition Monday, Aug. 30, Jones said.

Chikaming Township police were assisted at the scene by the Chikaming Township Fire Department, Berrien County Sheriff’s Department, Three Oaks police and Pokagon Tribal police.
