Law enforcement discovered various drugs and stolen items from Indiana and Michigan on Monday during a search of a household in New Buffalo Township. 

NEW BUFFALO — A search warrant led to the recent arrest of four and the discovery of drugs and various stolen items in New Buffalo Township.

The Southwest Enforcement Team West Office, as well as the Berrien County Sheriff's Department and New Buffalo Township-assigned sheriff deputies, executed a search warrant at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, within the 1300 block of El Dorado Blvd. in New Buffalo Township.

While performing the search warrant, police found methamphetamines, suspected heroin, evidence of drugs sales and use, firearms and miscellaneous property believed to have been stolen from Indiana and Michigan, a news release stated.

Four of the five suspects at the scene were arrested and lodged on various felony drugs and firearms charges. The four arrested were a 64-year-old New Buffalo man, a 55-year-old New Buffalo man, a 21-year-old Michigan City man and a 31-year-old New Buffalo woman. 

Police said additional charges will be sought on several suspects involved in the thefts of the recovered items.

Nearby residents had phoned in drug-trafficking complaints, and the road patrol had information about stolen property on the premises, the release stated.
