THREE OAKS — A collision between two snowmobiles Sunday evening, Jan. 20, left two men seriously injured.

Three Oaks Police Chief Dennis Buller said the accident happened at Stickles Road (near Schwark Road) when one of the snowmobiles "hit the road, went airborne, hit the ground and (the driver) got knocked off. The second one behind him came down on him cutting off his foot" (he added that a tourniquet was applied to that victim to slow the loss of blood).

He added that the other snowmobiler appeared to suffer injuries to his arm and shoulder.

Both were transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital (reportedly in stable condition).

Buller said Three Oaks police officer Andrew Taylor, a Sheriff's Department reserve officer, the Three Oaks Fire Department and both Three Oaks ambulances responded to the incident.
