Russell Steven Voyta

UNION PEIR — Russell Steven Voyta, 61, of Union Pier, Mich., passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019.

For over 25 years, Russ Voyta toured the World with the Top names in Rock & Roll, including Def Leppard, The Scorpions, Bad Company, Styx, Journey, Heart, Kansas, REO, Jason Bonham, Tesla, Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Many, Many More. Russ was Stage Manager/Drum Tech in charge of building the show, managing the show, and tearing it back down each Night, in each City. Rusty’s Playfulness, Non-stop energy and Big Smile and Laugh made people always remember him. He was adored by the local staffs, his friends and colleagues, and the Rock Stars he worked for. He played a major role in the Smiles on the faces of Millions of Rock Fans Worldwide that were never lucky enough to meet him.

Rusty loved riding his Harley, he was a Great Saddle Pal, Horn Honker and a Travlin Ramblin Man with a Big Smile.

Rusty was also a huge animal lover, and had many dogs and a couple of cats throughout his life, fed the birds twice a day, loved everyone's pets, Rusty had a heart of gold.

Rusty was also a GREAT Drummer, played in many bands in his lifetime, and his passion was Music. When he was young he enjoyed Wrestling and Motocross.Rusty was also a GREAT cook. 

Russell was born on November 27, 1957, to Harry and Grace (Werlein) Voyta in La Grange, Ill. He is Survived by his Girlfriend - Diana Nichols Sinks of New Buffalo, Mich., Sisters - Sharon Parry of Park City, KS., and Carol (Peter) Florine of Woodridge, Ill., Two Nephews and One Niece, and Many Many Friends. He was Preceded in death by his Parents Harry and Grace Voyta and Wife Dana Carlson Voyta. 

Russell Steven Voyta's Ride & Celebration of Life will be May 4th, 2019 at the American Legion Post 169, 19121 U.S. 12 New Buffalo, Michigan, 49117. 3 p.m. to ? Sign up for the Free Ride will be at 10:30 a.m. EST Anyone who would like to ride is welcome. Kickstands up at Noon. We will be riding Red Arrow/Blue Star to South Haven then back to the New Buffalo American Legion to Kick Off the Celebration. Everyone is Welcome to attend Russell Steven Voyta's Celebration of Life.
