Dear editor: October 21-27, 2018, is the 13th annual celebration of National Friends of Libraries Week, making it a good time to publicly thank the Three Oaks Library Friends who contribute so much of their time and talents to significantly enhance our services.

Our Friends group raises funds through their book sale room, annual membership fees and sale of library bags. They are also listed as a charity you can choose to support when shopping online at www.smile.Amazon.com. In the last year our Friends group promoted the passage of the library’s millage, purchased an archival display case for the library’s US flag signed by President McKinley when the Dewey Cannon was given to Three Oaks in 1899, purchased a lovely display bookcase, provided prizes for the library’s Summer Reading Program, and provides the free coffee that is available daily in the library.  In addition, they wrote a grant proposal and received funding from The Pokagon Fund for the purchase of the AED defibrillator located in the main library area.

The Three Oaks Township Public Library is known as a source of pride for our community. Our Friends group is a source of pride as well. Joining the Three Oaks Library Friends is a terrific way to make new friends of your own, and a manner of giving back to our community, making its library even better.  I hope during this week everyone will call or visit the library to find out how they can join and support this outstanding group.

I hope to see many “friends,” old and new!

 Sincerely,

 Cheryl Kersey

Director,

Three Oaks Township Public Library
