THREE OAKS — The River Valley High School baseball team emerged from a week of rain to split a pair of five-inning games with Holland Black River on Friday, May 3.
The Mustangs took the opener 4-2.
Davyd Bronson tripled in Matthew Schmidt (who had singled) in the first inning.
River Valley tallied three more runs in their half of the fourth thanks to a walk by Bronson, Evan Strefling hitting into an error, Elijah Witter’s run-scoring single (that brought in a second run on an overthrow), and Tylar Montgomery’s run-scoring base hit.
Holland Black River scratched two runs in the top of the fifth before Schmidt and the RV defense closed the door.
Black River went on to take game two 3-0.
The Mustangs took two from Michigan Lutheran on May 6 by 9-1, 18-0 scores.
On Monday, May 6, the he River Valley HIgh School softball team routed Michigan Lutheran by a pair of 21-1 tallies.
Madison Vollman hit a home run in the first game while Halie York had three hits.
Tiffany Hyatt and Emma Springer went deep in game two.
Bridgman’s softball team swept Berrien Springs 7-0 and 10-0 on May 6.
Natalee McNeil got both wins (with 15 strikeouts in the opener).
Katylee Shuler had three hits in game one while Arie Hackett contributed two hits and two RBI.
Madelyn Oman had three hits and three RBI in game two while Hannah Johnson and Autumn Brown each had home runs.
