BERRIEN SPRINGS — The River Valley and New Buffalo school districts have teamed up to field co-op wrestling teams at the middle and high school levels this winter.

The seven-member Harbor Country Heritage high school wrestling team was in action Feb. 17 at Berrien Springs, besting the host Shamrocks 36-24 as Andrew Forker, Jack Lantz, Isaac Preece and Braden Huffer won by fall.

Other members of the squad include Ben Patton, Jace Grott and Shane Berk.

Earlier on the evening of Feb. 17 the middle school co-op squad participated in a meeting that included opponents from Berrien Springs, St. Joseph and Buchanan.

Coach Jeff Zeiger said the Harbor Country Heritage middle school team has 14 wrestlers.

“We are excited to have this joint effort and give all these students an opportunity to wrestle. We will continue to grow and compete at higher levels together,” he said.

Members of the team include: Holly Dempsey, James Kaminski, Aaron Berk, Brensen Grott, Jeffery Tertel, Damarcus Wysinger, Sullivan Cline, Kyle Kirk, Lucas Zeiger, Sage Preece, Keegan Collis, Makail Geigler and Elias Hernandez.
