BRIDGMAN — Watervliet stayed on a roll in the Nov. 4 Division 3 district championship volleyball match, sweeping host Bridgman 25-22, 25-13, 25-20.

Watervliet (29-9) advanced to play No. 4 Bronson on Nov. 9 in the regional semifinals in Centreville.

The Panthers played through a difficult draw, beating defending champion Brandywine on Nov. 1, then BCS Red Division champion Buchanan on Nov. 3.

The host Bees were coming off a 25-15, 22-25, 25-15, 25-16 semifinal victory over Cassopolis on Nov. 3.

Statistical leaders for the Bees in the semifinal included: Peyton Oman 3 aces, 3 assists, 11 digs; Haylee Kanous 2 aces, 5 kills, 4 assists, 2 blocks, 20 digs; Takiya Cornelius 24 kills, 2 blocks, 6 digs; Lily Barker 7 kills, 1 block, 3 digs; Tatyanna Hill 4 kills, 3 blocks; Bella Gearhart 41 assists, 10 digs; Kylie Ott 6 digs; Bre Russell 10 digs; Ava Starbuck 6 kills, 2 blocks; Ellie Stine 2 aces; Mikayla Walsh 2 kills.

Bridgman held an early lead in every set of the Nov. 4 finals match with the Panthers (6-2 in the opener, 7-4 in the second set, and 7-3 in the finale, but Watervliet was able to rally three times in the late going.

Bridgman was still on top 10-9 early in the second set before Allie Pline served up six straight points, including three aces, as the Panthers began to run away.

Ellie Golden also had a six-point serving run late in the second contest.

The Bees had a 16-11 lead in the final game before Watervliet again came back to seal the victory.

Right-side hitter Natalie Hart had a strong defensive performance for Watervliet with a team-high 20 digs.

Nov. 4 statistical leaders for the Bees (31-13-2) included: Oman 2 aces, 2 kills, 13 digs; Kanous 14 digs; Cornelius 9 kills, 1 block, 6 digs; Hill 3 kills, 5 blocks; Gearhart 2 aces, 14 assists, 14 digs; Russell 8 digs.
